Transgender

At Dublin Lesbian Line we are passionate about our support of the transgender community. We receive many calls from those uncertain of their gender identity, or seeking support whilst exploring gender issues. Many people find it difficult to talk to those close to them, particularly when experiencing thoughts or feelings that the body they were born with does not match the gender they feel inside. If you would like to talk to us about these issues please feel free to give us a call.

We have compiled a list of LGBT experienced Counsellors, Psychotherapists and Psychologists in the counselling section of this website. As you will see by exploring this list, some of the specialists have prior experience working with transgender individuals and some may not, however, all specialists have agreed to provide a positive environment for which to explore your gender issues or concerns. Feel free to ask as many questions as needed upon initial contact, such as prior experience, training, understanding of the issues at hand, cost, method of therapeutic approach (Person Centered, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Psycho-Analytic, Gestalt, Mindfulness, Psycho dynamic, etc). There are many different approaches to therapy so it pays to become familiar with the differences, so you can find the right type for you. Remember, don't be afraid to ask questions!
